SMARTSTAR

The SMARTSTAR    brand is an elite mark of distinction that can only be used by companies that have been authorized by NALS Apartment Homes, LLC (NALS) and confirms that NALS has verified compliance with NALS standards and regulations.

 

In order for a company to be authorized to use the SMARTSTART   brand the company must meet minimum standards regarding certain real estate operations and related activities.  When a company displays the SMARTSTAR    brand it confirms that the real estate services offered by the licensed company meet the standards of quality set by NALS as far as building design and construction as well as the leasing operations, maintenance, and performance of the property. SMARTSTAR    certification also requires a  demonstrated a level of competency toward the implementation of green initiatives that champion eco-friendly alternatives with an unparalleled level of care, commitment, and follow-up.  The evaluation of each licensed company looks at such items as HVAC, plumbing, drainage, water reclamation, water quality, indoor air quality, energy efficiency, building performance, renewable energy solutions, xeriscaping, organic practices, electrical power, environmental property history, and the many of other aspects of real estate leasing and related services that are important to lesses and renters of residential properties. 

 

The NALS SMARTSTAR or ECOSTAR certifications are designed to provide prospective residential tenants of large apartment with information regarding facilities, equipment, improvements, and policies.  By obtaining a NALS certification a landlord allows tenants to review key benchmarks and judge how a residential real estate building meets standards importance relating to sound environmental practices in property management and green initiatives.  

 

To obtain and use any of NALS SMARTSTAR or ECOSTAR certifications certain specific requirements must be fulfilled. Please submit the application for NALS Certification with the initial evaluation in order to initiate the more formal review and approval process.  A registration fee and a certification fee, which is based on a unit's size are due prior to a project's inspection.  A final certification fee is due when an application is completed and approved.
